While the Spring 2025 season has already been impressive, featuring standout shows like Wind Breaker, To Be Hero X, Lazarus, DMC, Super Cube, Witch Watch, and many more, it’s clear that was just the tip of the iceberg. Anime fans, get ready, summer is about to take things to a whole new level.

This year’s summer anime season looks even more stacked, making the spring lineup feel like just a warm-up. With fan-favourite shows returning for new seasons, highly anticipated manga getting their long-awaited anime adaptations, and a wave of exciting original series on the horizon.I am not going to bore you with a long intro; let’s dive into the list.

We also catch glimpses of tiny spirit-like beings invading the cursed house, ready to attack the group.     2. Sakamoto Days, Season 2

    Sakamoto Days has always been known for its slick, stylish action sequences, and Season 2 takes it up a notch.     The teaser for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 may not reveal much, but one thing’s for sure: this highly anticipated anime never disappoints! Season 1 was a hit among anime fans, thanks to the lovable and well-developed cast, and of course, Kafka Hibino, the hilarious and badass protagonist.     Unlike the other returning titles on this list, Tougen Anki is a brand-new anime making its debut this summer. So far, two trailers have dropped, and both are an absolute treat to watch. The story follows Shiki Ichinose, a boy seeking revenge for his father’s death. The series introduces the intriguing concept of Oni Blood, a power that adapts based on the user’s imagination. The trailer also reveals the brutal Monataro Agency, the very group responsible for Shiki’s tragic loss. Tougen Anki is set to premiere on July 11, 2025, and it’s one to watch out for!”

    5. Gachiakuta

    Genre: action, dark fantasy, dystopian

    Another anime on this list that’s worth the wait is Gachiakuta. The story follows Rudo, who is wrongfully accused of a murder he didn’t commit and thrown into the Abyss, a world overflowing with garbage and danger. Much like Tougen Anki’s Oni Blood, Gachiakuta features a unique power system where characters use special weapons known as the Vital System. With its gritty setting, intense action, and raw emotion, Gachiakuta is shaping up to be one of the most explosive new anime releases! It is set to release in July 2025.

    6. Lord Of Mysteries

    Genre: action, adventure, drama, fantasy, mystery, thriller

    Lord of the Mysteries is one of those underdog anime that come out of nowhere and completely take you by surprise. With its bizarre yet visually stunning world, packed with mystery and thrilling twists, this series has serious potential to become the anime of the year. If you’re into dark intrigue, layered storytelling, and unique worldbuilding, Lord of the Mysteries is a must-add to your watchlist. This anime is set to premiere in June 2025.

    7. City the animation

    Genre: slice of life, surreal comedy

    If you’re a fan of Nichijou, here’s some great news: Kyoto Animation is bringing us City: The Animation, based on the manga by the same creator! With its signature light-hearted slice-of-life charm and laugh-out-loud moments, this anime promises the same quirky energy we loved in Nichijou. The story follows the everyday adventures of three girls living in the city, blending chaos, comedy, and heartfelt moments. City: The Animation is set to premiere on July 6th, 2025, and it’s one to watch if you’re in the mood for some wholesome fun.“

    8. The Summer Hikaru Died

    Genre: mystery, thriller

    Summer Hikaru Dies is a gripping mystery anime that follows two best friends — until one day, one of them realises something terrifying: his friend isn’t who he used to be. A strange, unknown creature has taken over his friend’s body, still holding his memories, but with an eerie difference. No one knows who or what it is, or why it’s here. As tension builds and truths unravel, this series promises a psychological and emotional rollercoaster. Summer Hikaru Dies is set to premiere in July 2025, and it’s a must-watch for fans of suspense and supernatural mystery.”
